This tournament will be run over one day and will be a straight knock out. First round will be best of 5 frames. There will be no plate at this event. .
Due to table availability & club requirements the first round will be subject to possible time restrictions placed on any given match. This means that if the TD feels your match is over running to such an extent to hold up the tournament or cause inconvenience to the venue, delaying return of tables, then you will be told you have a certain amount of time left, and the clock will be put on the match. There will be no debate or discussion if a the TD decides to put a clock on any given match. the TD's decision is final. Once the clock runs out , the winner will be the person who is leading.
Frame score will be the first consideration and if level , points on the board in the current frame will be considered, if that is level, all balls will be removed from the table and the match will be decided by a respotted black.
We are very fortunate to be running the Snookerz Xmas Cracker at this amazing new venue and so as organisers we will be doing our part to ensure we dont get one match holding up the entire tournament and delaying the handing back of tables for club use.
We encourage players to wear sponsor logo's for any company that supports them. Players may be required to wear event sponsors logo (which will be supplied free of charge).
The simple answer here is no, not ever. Our draws are always totally random.
There may be main tour professional registered to play at this event. Professional players (main WST Tour) and those that have recently been on the tour, but no longer are, will be subject to handicap, as detailed below
Yes we do. Although it only applies as follows:
Any player that has either been on the main (Pro WST) tour since the 2021/22 season and / or is still on the main tour will be required to give an 18 start , each frame , to all amateurs . For the avoidance of doubt this applies to any player that has been on the main tour since and including the 2021/22 season , regardless of whether they are still on the tour or not.
It will be your / the players responsibility to inform the TD, before the start of the tournament, if you fall into the category described above. If it is discovered during the tournament a player has not declared their correct status to the TD before the start of the tournament, penalties will be applied at the discretion of the TD which may indeed mean the player will be removed from the tournament, without refund.
An amateur is defined as all other players not referred to above.
We're hoping to stream this event. More information regarding the stream will be published here nearer to the event.
There will be penalties for late shows.
The tournament will start at 10am
There are strict penalties in place for late shows:
We will publish that policy & start times here shortly
OUR MISS RULE POLICY IS BASED ON THE ACTUAL MISS RULE AND NOT THE 'EVERYTHING IS A MISS' MANY PEOPLE THINK IS THE RULE.
To understand our policy it is important firstly to know exactly what the rule actually says. It is as follows (pertinent points highlighted)
From the Rule Book:
14. Foul and a Miss
(a) The striker shall, to the best of their ability, endeavour to
hit the ball on or a ball that could be on after a Red, or
a free ball nominated as a Red, has been potted. If the
referee considers the Rule infringed, they shall call FOUL
AND A MISS unless:
(i) any player required penalty points before, or as a
result of, the stroke being played and the referee is
satisfied that the miss was not intentional;
(ii) a situation exists where it is impossible to hit the ball
on. In the latter case it must be assumed the striker
cont.....
TOURNAMENT POLICY:
IN ROUND ONE (LAST 32) WE WILL APPLY THE FOLLOWING:
There are some that believe it is not practical for the ref or players opponent to make this judgement call as they may not adequately know the standard of the player they are reffing / playing. We totally agree with this concern. So, in round one of the event (last 32) we are adopting the same approach to this that our friends at Cuestars adopt : The striker will decide if he or she has made a reasonable attempt as defined in 14 (a) above and it shall be the striker that decides if their opponent can call a miss on them. There will be no limit to the amount of attempts subject of course to rule 14.
If you, as the non striker feels your opponent has just played a shot that can be called a miss, you may enquire, politely, ONCE with them if they agree with you that it is a miss. If they say no it isnt, there is to be no discussion , their decision is final and no miss shall be called.
Any player that continues to argue after this point leaves themselves open to sanction from the TD which could include loss of frame or even loss of match.
Please apply this policy as fairly and as honestly as you can, as I’m sure you all will. If there are any issues, contact the TD for a ruling, but please be clear, the TD will NOT over rule the strikers' decision.
We would like to thank our friends at Cuestars who originally came up with this miss policy, and we know its worked very well for them, as it has for us as well. We realise that not everyone will agree with this rule but assuming that a player is honest, which the vast majority of players are , then this rule has to work, and experience has shown it does.
FOR ROUND 2 to FINAL (LAST 16 to end of event)
The above variation will no longer apply and we will just play the standard miss rule. Ref decides & any disagreements to be adjudicated by the TD.
You can download a copy of the WPBSA Snooker Rule Book HERE

This is a family friendly event as all our events are. We expect and require all players to behave appropriately throughout the entire event. Alcohol consumption in the playing area will be in line with the rules of the club but please note that Snookerz operates a 'zero tolerance' approach to abusive and / or disruptive behaviour from any player to any other player and / or from any player, to any official or lounge member of staff or member of the public. If the behaviour of any player falls into this category at any time then said player will be immediately removed from the tournament without refund and also may very well be expelled from the venue as well. Our events are open to all and as such have juniors as well as less abled players attending and thus we will not tolerate any kind of behaviour that may impact on the enjoyment of the event for others. It will not matter who you are or who you know and the decision of the Tournament Director & or Lounge Management will be final.
We're decent people at Snookerz & we realise life can throw curlers at folk so, we do make refunds available, subject to the following policy:
If you have registered and then find (before 09.00 on 15/12/25) that you can not make it, please email info@snookerz.co.uk immediately, outlining your reason for withdrawal. Please be honest, we may ask for evidence of your reason. We will try and resell your place and if we can, we will refund you less a £5 admin charge . We will NOT refund if you have withdrawn to play in an alternative tournament on the same day , or within 2 days from our event. We also reserve the right to refuse refund requests if we feel your withdrawal has not been done in good faith.
We do not guarantee that we will be able to resell your place and if we can not resell your place you will not receive a refund.
If you find you cant play and contact us after 09.00 on 15/12/25 - sorry it will be very unlikely refunds will be made, regardless of whether we resell your place or not. However, we may , at our sole discretion, consider requests to withdraw from the event after 15/12/25 , but the reason would have to be serious, such as a bereavement and please do not be offended when we ask for proof of the reason you give. This is to ensure fairness to everyone including other players and ourselves.
All refunds will be processed between 02/01/26 & 05/01/26 , so that we can check other tournament player lists etc, and allowing the Christmas Break.
