2026 BOB MASON OPEN faq's / T&c's

No, this is not a Snookerz tournament. This is a Jimmy Whites Sports Lounge (JWSL) tournament that JWSL have asked Snookerz to help run.  

The cost of entry is £50.  Enter online HERE  .  . Although the event is sold out we may get last minute withdrawals which can not be filled from the reserve list, so do keep checking this LINK to see if any such spots are available

"Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Jimmy White will no longer be able to attend or play in the Bob Mason Open. Jimmy is very disappointed and sends his best wishes to everyone taking part! 

The tournament is still very much going ahead, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic day of snooker with some amazing players!

Terry and the team have put a huge amount of effort into making this a great tournament, so we’re looking forward to a brilliant day, great snooker and supporting everyone taking part 

Jimmy will be there for the JWSL U21’s tournament the following Sunday, so there’s plenty to look forward to!

We’ll see everyone on Sunday. Good luck to all the players and we hope you have a great day! "

We're really sorry but we have sold all places available at this tournament. As the event is now imminent we are immediately putting up for sale any spare places we get as a result of withdrawals. So please keep checking HERE to see if any place(s) have become available . It is highly unlikely there will be any places available on the day. 

This tournament will be run over one day and will be a straight knock out. First round will be best of 5 frames. There will be no plate at this event. . 

Any match that exceeds two hours we may consider to be taking too long. This may not always be the case and will depend on where we are in the draw and on the day. If the TD considers your match is taking too long and seriously delaying the tournament we may put a 10 minute clock on your match.

This means that you will be told you have 10 minutes to complete the match from whatever position the match is in. 

The winner will be whomever is in the lead when the time runs out. If frame scores are equal, ie 1-1 or 2-2 then the actual points score of the active frame will be taken into account - who ever is leading will be the winner. If the points score of the active frame is level , then all balls will be removed from the table and the winner will be decided via a respotted black. 

The TD's decision to put a clock on the match, whilst will be done as a last resort;  is final and no debate or argument will be entered into. 

There will be a 20 second shot clock in play for the 10 minute duration to avoid deliberately slow play by the player who may be leading.

We encourage players to wear sponsor logo's for any company that supports them. 

The simple answer here is no, not ever. Our draws are always totally random. 

We hope to be streaming selected matches at this event and more information on this will be published in due course

Referees cost money and that means less prize money. At most events like this, players ref themselves until the final stages of the event. 

For rounds 1 to and including the semi finals players will ref themselves and there will be a 'roaming ref' - who many of you may recognise from the 900.

UPDATED OPENING TIME & START TIME 

Doors will open at 09.15am. When you arrive please sign in (before you do anything else) at the registration desk which will be clearly marked

The tournament will start at 09.45am sharp  . There will be a player briefing at 09.40am

We will allow a grace period of 10 minutes from the published start time of 09.45am for any late players. At 09.55am any player who is late (and who's match has been called) will be docked one frame. At 10.20am they will be docked a second frame and if they are not present by 10.45am they will be docked the third and final frame, thus being removed from the draw. There will be no refunds . 

Players that are not going on at the tournament start time will be subject to the same timings as above from the moment their match is called but there will only be a 5 minute grace period.. For example, If your match is called at 10.15am  You will be one frame down at 10.20am if you are not present AND ready to play. At 10.45am you would be two frames down and 11.10am you would be removed from the tournament and again, no refunds would be issued. 

The tournament directors time piece will be the only one that counts for these timings and no discussion will be entered into . We have to adhere to strict time keeping to be fair to all players that have arrived on time and to ensure the timely running of the event. 

Yes, there is. It is as follows:

DRESS CODE: .  NO TRAINERS - Shoes only  and NO JEANS and NO SHORTS . Trousers / Chinos only. Single colour Polo Shirt or regular shirt. Please respect this dress code. This is a memorial event and we expect and require all players to be properly attired. 

If the TD deems your attire to be unacceptable you may be removed from the event without refund, or other penalty as the TD deems appropriate.  Some medical exemptions may apply and are at the soul discretion of the TD. If you ask for a medical exemption, you will be asked to provide proof of your exemption if it is not clearly obvious. 

You can play at Jimmy Whites Sports Lounge up to and including the 22nd August 2026,  subject to existing opening times, membership rules and table availability / costs . You can find all the info you need on this amazing new venue here : www.jwsl.co.uk

From and including the 20th August to the 22nd August any players that is already registered to play in this event can practice / play on JWSL snooker tables without needing to be a JWSL club member. Normal table rates apply.

On the day itself  (23rd August) there will be NO PRACTICE ALLOWED either before or during the tournament

Due to the proximity of the event , No refunds will be made for any withdrawals for any reason - for clarity ; although Jimmy White had confirmed that he would play in this event, his withdrawal does not affect this policy.
