Day One will be groups, meaning that each player will play at least 4 matches. Each match will be best of 3 frames. We will play down to the Last 16 on day one, ie, groups will be completed. Day Two will be a straight knock out, Last 16. Each match will be best of 5 frames with the final being either best of 7 or best of 5 frames depending on timings. There is no plate
The simple answer here is no, not ever, We firmly believe that every player , (no matter what anyone thinks of their standard of play , or anyone elses) should be given an equal chance (subject to 'Pro' FAQ below)
This tournament is an open tournament so it is possible there will be Pro's at this event. All Pro's will be required to give an 18 start in each frame they play to all amateurs. The avoid doubt, a Pro is defined as any player on the current WST Professional Tour, any player not on the CURRENT tour list is defined as Amateur, even if they have been on the tour but are no longer on it.
Every Amateur player will be awarded a 21 points per frame handicap if they play a WST Professional tour player.
We have also introduced a limited handicap scheme for Under 16 players who have only just started playing snooker. This will be to a maximum of 21 points per frame, only available to Under 16 players and will be decided on an ad-hoc basis. It is entirely possible that no handicap will be awarded. This is designed to encourage new junior players to have a go. Any Under 16 handicap awarded would be in addition to the standard 'Professional Tour Player' handicap.
This event will be streamed on the WOKING SNOOKER CENTRE YOUTUBE ACCOUNT. Anyone entering this event agrees that their image may be used without any further permission and without any reward / payment. You agree that your image, both picture and video can be used by Snookerz, CueSurrey & Woking Snooker Centre in any promotional and / or on any social media linked to either or all of the above.
Professional players are welcome to enter this tournament but you are advised to check with your governing body first. Any contractural restrictions that exist between and governing body and a professional player are a matter solely for the parties to that agreement. Snookerz is NOT a party to such agreements and is therefore not bound by them. Any professional player entering this tournament ideminfies Snookerz fully from any actions any governing body may take as a result of the professional players' participation in this event.
We strongly believe that all Amateur players have a right to have their talents showcased and thus all of our events will be streamed from now on.
There will be late show penalties as follows:
Day One Late Penalties:
If you are not present, signed in AND ready to play by 10.00 am you will be docked one frame. If you are still not present, signed in AND ready to play by 10.20 am you will be docked a second frame and as group matches are best of 3 frames this means , you will lose your first match, 2-0. If you are still not present, signed in AND ready to play by 10.45 am, you will be removed from the tournament, without refund. We have a lot of matches to play on Day One and we will apply these penalties strictly regardless of reason for lateness, to ensure smooth running of the tournament.
Day Two Late Penalties
Day two late penalties will be communicated to the Last 16 players at the end of Day One.

If four or more snookers are needed in any frame then that frame must immediately be conceded by the player that needs the snookers. If the player refuses to concede the frame, please contact the floating ref or the TD. This rule applies to all matches except the final.
The TD may, at any time, put a time limit on any given match. What this will mean is that both players will be informed by the TD when the match must end. If the match has not ended by the specified time then the player that is leading at the cut off time, will win the match. . Firstly frames won will be looked at, and if level (ie 0-0 or 1-1) then the current frame score of the active frame will be taken into account. If scores are level the match will be decided by the toss of a coin. We will only use this measure if a match is overunning to such an extent it may cause a significant over run of the tournament. We will try to avoid invoking this measure but if used, there will be no discussion, the TD'S decision will be final.
On day One we will be playing a maximum of three misses can be called on any one situation / snooker. The player who has played the shot will decide if a miss can be called on themselves or not, so it will be up to them to decide if they have made a decent enough attempt to strike a ball on. Remember a ref would be judging that based on which is the EASIEST ball on for you to hit and not which one avails you best safety. You must base your decision on that criteria too. If you are too lenient on yourself, its likely your opponent will follow suit - so this method of adjudicating whether a shot is a miss or not polices itself and we feel is the fairest way of doing it.
On day 2 we will be playing the standard miss rule.
We hope to have at least one floating ref available . They will be able to adjudicate any disagreements as long as they saw the shot in question themselves.
