We believe that all a snooker player should need to succeed in the game of snooker is the skill to succeed. Put simply , that means be good enough at the game. Now more than ever, times are difficult for many , and it costs alot of money to follow a tour around the globe to compete in tournaments. Whilst those at the very top of the game enjoy the fame and riches that go along with that position, it is our belief that players, who are perhaps equally as talented are being denied the chance to climb to such heights, because they cant afford the get onto the mountain, let alone start climbing it.
Snookerz was set up, by Terry T (our founder) for two reasons. Firstly to run (and help run) tournaments that showcase and highlight the great talent there is in the Amateur game and secondly to support, those those that aspire to climb the mountain within amateur snooker.
Terry was recently nominated for a bravery award in the BBC 'Make a Difference' awards. You can read more about his story in this BBC Article
We would love to see a sport where everyone, no matter what background / resources has an equal chance to succeed. A sport that is run for the sport, for those that play the sport, for those that enjoy the sport, for those like us that love the sport. Affordable Snooker tours for all, thats what we're aiming for.
WHAT A FINALS NIGHT THIS WAS .
Well done Alan & Paul !!
If you want to watch one of the most exciting frames of snooker ever played in snooker, let alone amateur snooker start this video at 1.26.00. Words not needed ... just watch!!
We are sorry that we were unable to hold the Bob Mason Open this year. This was due to a very full callendar else where and of course the change of hands & renovations occuring at Woking. We're pleased to advise you that the new owners of Woking, which will now be "Jimmy Whites Sports Lounge" (JWSL) have indicated that they will be happy for the Bob Mason Open to return next year at JWSL. We hope to run this & perhaps other tournaments at JWSL which promises to be an exciting new sporting destination in Woking.
In other news, I'm delighted to be working once again with Clive Brown & the Pink Ribbon, returning for its second year at Landywood Snooker Club. The dates this year are 5th - 9th September , 2025 , but please note entries will be closing on 25th August , 2025 at noon AND NOT the 29th August as mentioned in some places. Dont miss out on playing in this great annual Pro-Am which is actually the worlds biggest Pro-Am! Last year professional players such as Kyren Wilson, Stuart Bingham , Chris Wakelin, Martin O'Donnell, Ben Woollaston & Joe O'Connor joined amateurs from the length and breath of the UK and beyond for what was a great event. Think you have what it takes to beat a pro? Well, why not have a go?
You can enter once for £40 or buy two entries for £70 and remember , this event is, as it has done every year, rasing money for Breast Cancer Awareness.
For more information and to enter , please visit: https://snookerscores.net/events/2025-pink-ribbon
Hope to see many of you up at Landywood 🙂
Our founding values were simple. We wanted to make snooker more accessible , fairer, more inclusive and a level playing field for all. If you have the talent , NOTHING should stop you succeeding. The reality of snooker couldn’t be further from this though. Arrogance, unfairness , 'jobs for the boys', breath taking hypocrisy and back stabbing are the normal and we've had enough of it.
No one owns snooker and if anyone out there thinks they do, its about time they were educated as to their error. Snooker would be nothing at all without the thousands of amateur players, clubs, leagues etc and the millions of supporters around the world and especially in the UK.
Its no good us just begging for money off a few kind individuals to help players pay for a train ticket, an entry to an event etc. Its not enough and anyway, all of the money genuine people are spending on such things is being used for free holidays etc by those who currently run snooker.
Anything we do, and organisations like us do, is kept quiet and ignored by the those that control the game. Its not enough for them to succeed, everyone else must fail. It sickens us when we see those interviews on TV where these people try and con fans all over the world that they actually care about the game and its grass roots. They couldn’t care less about the game. They couldn’t care less about the vast majority of players and they couldn’t care less about the millions of fans.
Change of tactic required
Snookerz is close to agreeing a change of ownership with a major brand, who like us, is sick to death of the way the game is being destroyed by people that couldn’t give two hoots about the game . In the interim we will continue to support those that promote and really do try to help grass roots snooker, and we'll keep you updated regarding the sale. If it happens, the long overdue shake up of this game and hopefully bucket loads of karma will come to pass.
Thank you.
